I began redesigning my family’s rooms while still a teenager, back in the sixties. I attended Parsons School of Design for one year, intent on becoming an interior decorator. Marriage, two children, and many corporate jobs interrupted that plan. Little did I know that redesigning rooms using existing furniture and accessories would become my passion and first business venture when I retired from the corporate world in 2004!
Watching a redesign segment one afternoon on HGTV, Marcia Smart, my future instructor, redesigned a bachelor’s living room into a fantastic living space, just by moving all his furniture around and rearranging his art and accessories. I knew immediately that I wanted to learn how to do this too.
I enrolled in Marcia’s training one month later and now take great pride in having my own successful redesign business two years later.
I love the reactions I receive when the homeowner returns to view their completed redesign. Usually they are amazed that their belongings look so good and that the room now feels so warm and comfortable. Many times, after I have “shopped” the house for interesting accessories, the homeowner is very surprised that their personal possessions look so good.
